Managing Director for ACE Power Promotions, Mr. Isaac Amankwah has promised fireworks when his outfit stages an action-packed fight night on July 10 dubbed the ‘War Zone’ fistic show.
The night would be headlined by a World Boxing Organisation (WBO) junior lightweight championship between unbeaten Ghana based Nigerian boxer, Joshua ‘The Sensation’ Oluwaseun Wahab (20-0, 13 KOs) and Anthony ‘Homeboy’ Moloisane of South Africa (14-5-1, 8 KOs) at the Bukom Boxing Arena in Accra.
Speaking at a press conference to announce the fights yesterday, Mr. Amankwah said, “July 10 would not be different from what we are known for: bring quality boxers to battle for glory and promote boxing in the country,” he stated.
He said they were working with Streetwise Promotions to lift the image of boxers in the country.
“Working with Streetwise Management and Lou DiBella is just the beginning of the big things we promised to introduce to Ghana boxing. This is geared at developing good fighters, good fights and great champions,” Mr. Amankwah added.
The 23-year-old Wahab, a former WBA Pan-Africa and WBF Intercontinental super featherweight champion is managed by Streetwise Management headed by Michael Amoo-Bediako.
A WBO Supervisor, Mr. Samir Captan commended ACE Promotions for their consistency in presenting great boxers for their bouts.
He said presenting such boxers would go a long way to promote boxing in the country, calling stakeholders to support such Promotions as they continued to work towards raising the next generation of boxing greats.
Also on the bill is an Ahmed Abdula (2-0, 1 KO) clash with David Okine, Dodzi Kemeh (24-2, 22 KOs) will be engaged in an 8-round super welterweight contest against Naimou Aziz Samson.
A super lightweight 10-round contest featuring former WBO junior welterweight champion, Robert ‘Stopper’ Quaye will also come up against countryman, Richard Amenfu.
The fight had been projected to be a warm-up towards the IBF Continental Africa title in September for undefeated Quaye (19-0, 16 KOs).
ACE Power Promotions’ Daniel Aduku (13-2-1, 9 KOs) and undefeated Holy Dorgbetor (7-0, 5 KOs) would also be in action against experienced Benjamin ‘Congo Soldier’ Ankrah and Mustapha Appiah in super welterweight and featherweight contests respectively, both scheduled for 10 rounds.
Other undercards include the super welterweight contest scheduled for eight rounds between Abraham Afful and a yet to be confirmed opponent with another super welterweight contest and an eight rounds featuring ACE Power stable debutant Emmanuel Baidoo and Moses Lartey as well as Samuel Martei Laryea versus Billy Quaye at super bantamweight.
